Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes believes that “no words” are “needed” to describe David de Gea‘s influential performance against West Ham United.
The Spanish goalkeeper pulled off two world-class saves to deny Kurt Zouma and Declan Rice in United’s 1-0 win against the Hammers at Old Trafford last night.
United’s number one was in inspired form, and when the 31-year-old produces performances like that, it’s a timely reminder of the phenomenal shot-stopping qualities he possesses.
Zouma’s header looked to be already past De Gea, but the former Atletico Madrid youngster showcased his quickfire reflexes and strength to claw the ball to safety.
And then in the dying seconds, De Gea managed to get a strong hand to Rice’s long-range effort to ensure Erik ten Hag’s side held on to a battling three points, which moved us up above Chelsea into fifth place in the Premier League table.

De Gea, who has racked up 504 appearances for the Red Devils, hasn’t conceded at the Theatre of Dreams in over eight hours of action.
Real Sociedad were the last side to score past the 45-time Spain international at the start of September.
As well as praising De Gea, Fernandes also took to Instagram to reserve special praise for United’s match winner against the Irons Marcus Rashford.
The 25-year-old’s bullet header from Christian Eriksen’s cross was his 100th for the twenty-time league champions and Fernandes has no doubt that there is plenty more goals to come for our in-form number ten.
After picking up his fifth Premier League booking of the season against David Moyes’ side, Fernandes will miss Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa through suspension.
