Manchester United’s fluid frontline was full of pace, running, quality and goalscoring threat against Liverpool in Erik ten Hag’s first game in charge.
With wantaway striker Cristiano Ronaldo no closer to joining up with the rest of the squad on our pre-season tour, Anthony Martial was given the opportunity to lead the line.
The Frenchman started down the middle with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho either side of him and the trio being supported by United’s captain on the day Bruno Fernandes.

United’s new number eight seemingly relished having the pacey and talented trio in front of him, and their willingness and desire to make runs in-behind allowed the Portuguese playmaker to showcase his array of creative qualities.
Ten Hag was impressed by Manchester United’s speed and creativity in attack and it was evident that the Red Devils’ front four relished playing together.
It was the first time the quartet had started a match alongside one and other, and on evidence their first outing couldn’t have gone much better.
Bruno Fernandes raves about two Manchester United teammates

With Harry Maguire unavailable for the 4-0 win against Jurgen Klopp’s side due to a slight knock, Fernandes wore the captain’s armband.
After an impressive and encouraging performance in Ten Hag’s first game of his Manchester United tenure, the former Sporting Lisbon showed his love for his teammates with some praise on Instagram.
As well as reacting to Amad’s performance against our arch-rivals our Portuguese ‘Magnifico’ commented on Rashford and Martial’s displays against last season’s League Cup and FA Cup winners.
There is no denying that Fernandes and Martial have a very good connection and that was once again showcased against the Merseysiders.

In 62 games when both players have played alongside one and other for the Reds, they have combined for 12 goals, the last of which was Martial’s last competitive goal for United which came against Everton in October.
Fernandes shared his delight in the former Monaco man being back at the club following a difficult loan spell with Sevilla.

Returning for pre-season fit and hungry, Rashford will be encouraged by his 45 minute run out against our rivals.

Fernandes took to social media to show how highly he rates United’s number 10.

United’s front four will be hoping to build on the feel-good factor following the 4-0 win against Liverpool with another comprehensive display when we face Melbourne Victory in Australia on Friday.
