Manchester United fans were left with a sinking feeling when a defensive error saw the team give away a goal against Plzen.

United had struggled to create chances before going 1-0 down, and Ruben Amorim had seen enough, making substitutions that changed the game in the team’s favour.

A brace from substitute Rasmus Hojlund won it for the Red Devils, giving United fans reason to be cheerful after two previous losses.

United’s 2-1 win was uplifting night for the team, shown by the mood of the players at full-time, securing a well-timed victory ahead of the Manchester derby, while City lost again in midweek.

Bruno Fernandes praises Tyrell Malacia

One of the positives to come out of the game was Tyrell Malacia clocking up another hour since making his return to action.

Malacia had played two 45 minutes against Bodo/Glimt and then Arsenal, and the left-back is gradually getting his match fitness up.

After the 2-1 victory, Fernandes reached out to Tyrell Malacia on Instagram, writing: “Getting better and better my guy.”

Malacia was solid, with his 61st minute substitution clearly pre-planned, with Ruben Amorim taking it very carefully with the fitness of his players.

The left wing-back put up some impressive defensive numbers during the victory.

Malacia is still building up his fitness, and will start to add more of an attacking touch to his game when he is capable of bursting up and down the pitch for 90 minutes.

Amad sends message

Manchester United playmaker Amad was playing in an advanced role, and created the first goal with a run into the box and shot, which was saved, into the path of Rasmus Hojlund.

Amad has been a consistent performer under new boss Ruben Amorim, but he admits it was challenging in Plzen.

He wrote: “A difficult field to play on, but winning was the best thing. We keep going.”

Teammate Antony posted emojis in response, celebrating his own involvement in Manchester United’s comeback.
