Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has revealed that his Portugal teammate Diogo Dalot has returned to training at Carrington.

United’s number 20 has missed Erik ten Hag side’s last six matches having picked up a muscle injury in the first half of United’s 3-0 win against League One side Charlton Athletic, in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, last month.

Having picked up an injury at the World Cup, the Portuguese right-back returned to Carrington requiring treatment and marked his return to action as a substitute against Bournemouth.

Due to the former Porto man recently struggling with injury setbacks, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has come from out of the cold and seized his chance.

Although Dalot completed the full 90 minutes in the FA Cup third-round win against Everton last month, the ten-time Portugal international hasn’t gone the distance in the Premier League since the first week of November.

In United’s last game before the domestic season paused for the World Cup, the attack-minded full-back missed United’s last-gasp win at Fulham due to suspension, having picked up his fifth Premier League booking of the season during the 3-1 defeat to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Given how far Wan-Bissaka was in Ten Hag’s plans before the winter training camp in Spain, it was left-back Tyrell Malacia who deputised for Dalot at Craven Cottage ahead of the former Crystal Palace man.

But with games coming thick and fast, and the business end of the season fast approaching, Fernandes has revealed that Dalot is back out on the grass.

Speaking via Manchester Evening News, United’s number eight said: “Diogo (Dalot) is training also with us and will probably be fully fit really soon and that is really good because the manager has more options.”

Upon returning to full fitness, Dalot faces a battle on his hands to win back his starting place from Wan-Bissaka who has enjoyed a renaissance since the season resumed.
