Bruno Fernandes has made his feelings clear after Alejandro Garnacho’s stunning overhead kick goal for Manchester United in their 3-0 win over Everton.

Alejandro Garnacho struck a sensational overhead kick at Goodison Park, which seemed to catch everyone in the stadium by surprise, and got Manchester United on their way to a big victory in Merseyside.

The Argentine winger was exciting throughout the game but it was the stupendous goal, a once-in-a-lifetime strike, that will be remembered for years.

Gary Neville, the former United right-back, was on co-commentary for Sky Sports and awarded the academy graduate the Man of the Match award.

Fernandes on Garnacho

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, United captain Bruno Fernandes waxed lyrical about the goal and also Garnacho himself, who caused Ashley Young problems throughout.

“Superb – something amazing and I have no words to describe it. It is out of this world. Special from a special kid,” Fernandes said. “A goal like this silences the crowd. I’m very proud of him and I’m glad he’s on my side.”

Away from the brilliant goal, the most surprising aspect of the 19-year-old’s performance was the defensive side of the winger’s game.

Luke Shaw made his first start in the Premier League for the Red Devils for nearly three months and was becoming peppered from Everton’s wingers but Garnacho was willing to track back and support the former Southampton left-back.

Garnacho won 55% of his ground duels which really highlights the grit and fight that the teenager is willing to show.

Garnacho nails down spot

Marcus Rashford was moved out to the right-hand side which allowed Garnacho to start in his favoured position and the Argentine has to keep his place in the side.

The guile, the trickery, and the youthful exuberance he brings to the side should be cherished. Former United defender Ashley Young struggled against the teenager and was lucky to still be on the pitch in the second half.

Rashford’s struggles in front of goal means the Argentine has a chance to prove to Ten Hag that he can be the man who can be relied upon.
