Bruno Fernandes hails ‘Champion’ former teammate after winning second title in six months

Juan Mata has had it pretty good since he left Manchester United.

The legendary Spanish midfielder officially departed Manchester United in July 2022 and has been at two clubs since – Galatasaray and Vissel Kobe.

Following last weekend’s antics, Mata has now won two league titles at both clubs since leaving Manchester, although how much part he had to play in the most recent trophy is questionable.

The 35-year-old Spaniard celebrated winning the J-League with his side on Saturday – but someone who began the season at the club sadly was not there to join in with the triumph.

Juan Mata sends message to Andres Iniesta

Andres Iniesta was a part of the Vissel Kobe side at the beginning of the season – but left due to lack of game time. Yes, you read that right.

Because of this, Iniesta was also included as a winner in the celebrations, despite his absence. Juan Mata took to his Instagram stories to congratulate the legendary Spaniard with the following message:

‘Congratulations @andresiniesta8 and thank you for everything you have done over so many years to get the club this far! We miss you in person but your legacy is always present.’

A nice tribute from Mata, who was in the same sort of situation as Iniesta. Since his arrival, the Spanish veteran has only played 10 minutes all season. Vissel Kobe clearly don’t respect their elders!

All jokes aside it evidently worked out for them, as they became champions of Japan with one game to spare.

He also posted a picture of himself with the league title – accompanied by the caption:

‘Wasn’t able to win a domestic league in fifteen years and now two in six months. Keep them coming!’

Current Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes commented on this, hailing his former teammate:

‘Champion’, it reads. Mata can add the two league titles to his extensive trophy collection, which includes the Champions League (with Chelsea), Europa League and FA Cup. Well in, Juan!
