Manchester United’s attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes created the most chances in a Premier League game this season in an inspired performance against Tottenham Hotspur.
Ahead of tonight’s game against Antonio Conte’s Spurs, the 28-year-old’s goalscoring output was the subject of discussion in Erik ten Hag’s pre-match press conference.
Prior to this evening’s clash at Old Trafford, United’s number eight had only scored one goal this season, and that came towards the end of August, which was the winner at Southampton.

The former Ajax manager leapt to the defence of the former Sporting Lisbon captain and declared he was delighted with our Portuguese Magnifico’s overall contribution to the team.
Bruno Fernandes creates most chances in Premier League game this season
Wearing the captain’s armband once again, Fernandes was simply everywhere against the north Londoners.
While Cristiano Ronaldo may grab the headlines for walking down the tunnel early after not coming off the bench, Fernandes should get the plaudits for producing a masterclass.
Having the pacey Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford in front of him, Fernandes relished threading through balls into the open space and getting his forwards into dangerous areas.

According to WhoScored, Fernandes created nine chances, which was a record in a Premier League match this season.
In this form, Fernandes is unplayable and despite only scoring one goal this season prior to tonight’s game, the Portugal international clinically finished when the ball fell to him and left Hugo Lloris with no chance.
Fernandes finished the game with 90 touches and 93% pass accuracy after completing 63 of his attempted 68 passes.
As well as winning three duels, Fernandes registered one interception and two tackles.
Hopefully Fernandes can improve on the nine chances he created tonight in Saturday’s clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
