Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has had one of the toughest weeks of his career.

Bruno Fernandes is reeling after receiving two red cards for Manchester United in the space of a week.

The first red card has been overturned, avoiding a three-match domestic suspension. He will serve a one-match ban in the Europa League after his dismissal against Porto.

This is against the backdrop of chaotic performances for Manchester United, summed up by a topsy-turvy 3-3 draw in the Europa League, where United are yet to win this season.

Bruno Fernandes message

While Bruno Fernandes came immediately to speak out after his red card against Tottenham, he has kept quiet following the Porto game.

Until now. Fernandes has posted a lengthy message on social media, reflecting on his and United’s current problems.

He wrote: “Tough moment as a team and personally for me, one of the hardest. Almost 5 years at the club with ups and downs, good and bad moments.

“Personally, I have always had challenges and adversities throughout my career and something that’s never happened was that I go silent or hide myself from responsibilities in difficult moments. I know it sounds cliche and most of you United fans will be tired of it, but no one is more disappointed than myself with my own moment.

“Even through this moment, I appreciate all of you that had positive messages of belief in me and the team.”

Responses to Bruno Fernandes

There were many responses to Bruno Fernandes’ post from former teammates, while current teammate Rasmus Hojlund left a ‘heart’ message.

Odion Ighalo wrote: “Form is temporary but class is permanent, we are with you my captain.”

Angel Gomes responded: “Vamos mano,” while David de Gea added: “Always with you.”

Fernandes is yet to score for Manchester United this season, and his form is not helping under fire boss Erik ten Hag.

This weekend he is eligible to play against Aston Villa, a game which many see as a ‘must win’ for Erik ten Hag to keep his job.
