Manchester United legend Gary Neville felt that Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen should have done better against Chelsea.
A last-gasp Casemiro header from Luke Shaw’s cross cancelled out Jorginho’s 87th minute penalty to ensure Erik ten Hag’s side extended our unbeaten run to six games across all competitions.
The former Ajax manager made one change to the starting line-up that beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 three days prior.

Eriksen came into the side to replace Fred who opened the scoring against Antonio Conte’s Spurs.
Prior to Graham Potter changing Chelsea’s system and bringing on Mateo Kovacic for Marc Cucurella in the 36th minute, the Red Devils were dominating possession and both our playmakers Fernandes and Eriksen were seeing plenty of possession.

But we didn’t take advantage of dominating proceedings at Stamford Bridge, and Neville felt that both Eriksen and Fernandes may be rueing not being ruthless and lacking that cutting edge, when the twenty-time league champions were in the ascendancy.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, the former Reds right-back said: “For 30-35 minutes, it became pretty obvious after five minutes that Manchester United’s midfield was absolutely dominating Chelsea’s – that two that Chelsea had were really struggling, Jorginho and Loftus-Cheek, and that was sort of the real fundamental part of the game.
“But when you’ve got a game by the scruff of the neck in possession like United did – they needed then to go and get the goal, but they didn’t do that.
“Casemiro was getting on the ball, Eriksen and Fernandes were in pockets, and I thought Eriksen and Fernandes with more quality at the top of their games should have done better in that period of the game.
“They’ll never get a simpler game at Stamford Bridge than they did in that first part. – Chelsea couldn’t get near them.”
