Bruno Fernandes and Benni McCarthy react to Manchester United star’s performance against City

Aaron Wan-Bissaka‘s renaissance at Manchester United continued following an eye-catching display in yesterday’s 2-1 win against Manchester City.

With Diogo Dalot unavailable for the derby against Pep Guardiola’s Citizens, Erik ten Hag handed United’s number 29 his fourth consecutive Premier League start.

Having started against Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth, facing off against Phil Foden, who scored a hat-trick in the 6-3 demolition at the Etihad back in October, was a big test for the former Crystal Palace right-back.

But United’s £50m signing stood up to the test and got better as the match wore on.

The former England Under-21 international wasn’t tepid in possession, and while he was solid defensively, Wan-Bissaka’s confidence seemingly grew as the match wore on, and he was skipping past City players with ease.

Prior to the World Cup, the writing looked to be on the wall for Wan-Bissaka with Ten Hag seemingly deeming him surplus to requirements.

But after Dalot returned to Carrington with an injury following his World Cup exploits, Wan-Bissaka has more than seized his opportunity.

Instead of his United career looking all but over, Wan-Bissaka, who is nicknamed the spider due to his tackling qualities, has risen to the challenge Ten Hag laid down and now looks ready to compete with Dalot for the right-back starting berth.

Following United’s massive derby day win against the reigning champions, Wan-Bissaka took to Instagram, and his post was met with a lot of love from the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Benni McCarthy and Anthony Elanga.

Fernandes wrote: “How many legs do you have” while McCarthy commented: “Top player”.

Elanga wrote: “You deserve this brother” and Tyrell Malacia agreed with the Sweden international’s comment.

Wan-Bissaka will be hoping to make it five Premier League starts in a row when Ten Hag’s United travel to the right-back’s former club Palace on Wednesday night.
