Brentford manager Thomas Frank has admitted he is working out how to try and contain Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund this weekend.

Frank hails from Denmark and he told the Bees website he is happy to see the development of his country’s new star striker, noting his stunning display in the Champions League this week.

On Saturday, Brentford head to Old Trafford, and his excitement at Rasmus Hojlund‘s progress has turned to concern, realising his 14th-ranked team have to try and stop the Manchester United man.

Brentford have only one win from seven games this season, while United’s record is not much better, only two points ahead.

Rasmus Hojlund a threat

Frank singled out Rasmus Hojlund, when previewing Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.

He explained: “He’s scoring goals. I know he’s not playing for Brentford, but I’m Danish and I’m happy that a Danish player is coming through and doing well.

“I must say, it was an impressive performance for him against Galatasaray, two very good goals. He looks like he’s in a very good place.

“But hopefully we can keep him quiet on Saturday! That’s the aim.”

Discussing how he might attempt to do that, Frank suggested Brentford will be sitting deep.

He said: “We need to be aware of not giving him too much space to run into; he’s quick and he’s good with the timing of his runs.

“We need to see the situations early and try to stop the balls into him – that’s definitely a key area for us.”

Rasmus Hojlund looking for first Premier League goal

Rasmus Hojlund has proved he can score goals, netting three times in two Champions League matches.

He is still looking for his first Premier League strike, seeing a goal disallowed against Brighton, and he will be desperate to break that duck.

After the big performance against Galatasaray in midweek, Hojlund will be full of confidence and determined to build on it.

Manchester United must pay attention to Thomas Frank’s comments, and be scheming up ways to get Hojlund on the ball in danger areas, which Brentford are not expecting.
