Brandon Williams should jump at fantastic chance to relaunch his career

Brandon Williams reportedly has an opportunity to relaunch his career in Italy and he should grab it.

It is hard not to feel sorry for Brandon Williams. Injury denied him a chance to feature in pre-season or even secure a move on loan.

He was deemed not ready for first team action after featuring in winter friendlies and no loan move materialised in January.

In recent games he has been part of the first team squad, but you wouldn’t know it. He was an unused substitute in five Premier League games and the FA Cup semi-final – but was never really seen as anything other than an emergency option.

William did get five minutes in the Carabao Cup in December, that’s as far as it has gone. Since then he has been like the ‘invisible man’, present, in first team training, but just making up the numbers.

A report via Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claims Brandon Williams may have an opportunity to sign with Serie A sign Fiorentina this summer.

The Europa Conference League finalists are keen on taking Williams on loan next season with an option to buy.

This is an opportunity the defender has to grab, and United should not stand in his way.

Williams’ last loan was at relegation battlers Norwich City, and while he got to play regularly, this did little to enhance his reputation long term and probably impacted his confidence.

Fiorentina are goal difference away from being a top half team in Serie A and the move could do wonders for his career.

Options in English football are unlikely to be so attractive considering he has not played for a year. Look at teammate Axel Tuanzebe, who had to settle for a deadline day loan to the Championship with Stoke City.

A move to another relegation battler or the second tier may not be so attractive for Williams, who will still feel, somewhere, that he has something to offer Manchester United.

While it seems Erik ten Hag does not agree, the club should do their best to fix him up with the best loan possible.

A switch to Fiorentina does seem like a best-case scenario if the Italian side follow through on the reported interest.
