Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has been pictured in training for the first time since the season began.

Williams was training separately to the rest of the squad although was joined by club captain Harry Maguire who was also doing individual training as he stepped up from injury.

The full-back shared an image from Carrington as he stepped up his comeback.

Brandon Williams was seen checking in at Carrington at in June when the players returned for pre-season. But then injury struck.

He did not go on pre-season tour and has not been seen since, focusing on rehabbing his injury.

His return to training came exactly three years since his Manchester United debut, and he is looking to fight his way back into first team contention.

Williams has played 50 first team games for United but has not played for the club since the last league game of the 2020/21 season.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan in the Premier League at Norwich City, who were relegated to the Championship.

Williams has since dropped down the pecking order at left-back behind Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, and his best bet may be at right-back, competing with Aaron Wan-Bissaka to challenge Diogo Dalot.

The defender’s best option will likely be to leave in January, permanently or on loan, but he will get some time before then to try and impress Erik ten Hag and win him over.

It’s possible he could feature in the EFL Cup in November against Aston Villa, and he may hope that his aggressive and spirited style of defending may appeal to Ten Hag. The hard work for him is only just beginning.
