Ipswich Town are still coming to terms with Kieran McKenna’s decision to step down as manager, with former Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams quick to show support for his former coach.
Former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna spent five seasons at Ipswich Town, securing promotion to the Premier League on two occasions after taking over the Tractor Boys in League One.
The news that McKenna is stepping down will come as a blow to Ipswich Town fans, as he’s leaving quite a legacy at Portman Road.
McKenna is understood to be taking a break from football for the foreseeable future, despite emerging as a top contender to replace Marco Silva at Fulham.

Brandon Williams sends emotional message to Kieran McKenna
Not only does former United full-back Brandon Williams know McKenna from coming through the ranks at Carrington, but he also joined Ipswich Town on loan in August 2023.
Williams made 17 appearances across all competitions, but he has issues with injuries and had to return to United in mid-January for a medical assessment.
This meant Williams missed the final stretch of the season as Ipswich secured automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Williams has shared an emotional message showing support for McKenna following the news that the coach has stepped down at Portman Road.
“Just wanted to say thank you, good luck and enjoy your break,” Williams wrote on Instagram.
“A real father figure for me in football. For my best and worst days in my career where ever it was you helped me. All the best boss.”

Brandon Williams is a free agent
After being let go by Hull City earlier this year, Williams has yet to find a new club.
That means he is a free agent this summer and will be aiming to get his career back on track.
Williams made just one appearance for Hull City after a successful trial at the Championship club last summer.
At 25, Williams still has time on his side to turn his career around.
