Boost for Manchester United as Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez suspended

Manchester United need every little bit of help we can get right now, after two losses to start the season and a match with Liverpool next up.

The Red Devils’ dire prospects for the match have been given a little help, with Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez now suspended.

Nunez was a £85 million signing for Liverpool, Sky Sports reported, a fee which saw Manchester United back off.

The Uruguayan striker marked his Premier League home debut with a red card.

Darwin Nunez suspended

Darwin Nunez was given a straight red card after attempting to headbutt Crystal Palace’s Joachim Anderson.

He was sent off immediately and will serve a three game suspension, missing games against Manchester United, Bournemouth and Newcastle United.

The Manchester United clash will be held at Old Trafford next Monday night, with Erik ten Hag looking for his first victory as manager.

Nunez scored the goal for Benfica which knocked his Ajax side out of the Champions League earlier this year, so the new United boss will be glad not to have to worry about him.

Liverpool of course have plenty of attacking threat for United to be concerned with, and Ten Hag has huge reasons to be concerned with his own team.

Nonetheless, any small help, we’ll take it right now. So the news Nunez being set to miss the upcoming fixture is a welcome development.
