Birmingham City man Juninho Bacuna has praised talented Manchester United loanee Hannibal Mejbri following yesterday’s 2-0 win against Hull City.

The 19-year-old started his second consecutive Championship game for the Blues, and he played 86 minutes before being substituted.

The 18-time Tunisia international has established himself in John Eustace’s Birmingham side and the teenager was voted Birmingham’s Man of the Match following the win against The Tigers.

Birmingham’s number six is relishing testing himself in arguably one of the most physical leagues in the world, and getting regular gametime at senior level will be invaluable in enabling his burgeoning potential to come to the fore and develop.

Following Troy Deeney’s opener from the spot, Bacuna doubled the St Andrew’s side’s lead just after the break and former Red Tahith Chong provided the assist.

But Bacuna reserved special praise for Hannibal’s role in his goal after the former Monaco starlet’s clever movement provided space for Bacuna to exploit.

Speaking via BluesTV, Bacuna said: “To be fair, it was a good ball from Chong and when I got the ball, I got one against one because of the run from Hannibal he created space for me.”

The former Rangers man continued to praise Hannibal and specifically named the qualities he believes United’s number 46 brings to Birmingham.

Bacuna added: “He’s a good player – he likes to play with the ball, make runs and he’s good for what the team needs.

“He’s young, got loads of energy and he’ll keep going for 90 minutes and that’s good for the team.”

Hannibal produced an all-action display at The MKM Stadium – he won 11 ground duels and registered six tackles, two clearances and one interception, as well as creating one chance, according to SofaScore.

Birmingham’s number six will be targeting a third consecutive start when Eustace’s side host Vincent Kompany’s Burnley on Wednesday night.
