Birmingham City manager John Eustace has praised Manchester United loanee Hannibal Mejbri for the impact the Tunisian has made at St Andrew’s.

After completing his season-long loan move to the Blues at the end of August, the vastly talented 19-year-old came off the bench in his first six appearances for the Championship side.

But the former Monaco wonderkid has started the last three Championship matches for Eustace’s side including last night’s 1-1 draw against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley.

From the three games Hannibal has started, Birmingham has picked up seven points.

In last night’s clash against the Clarets, the 18-time Tunisia international was fouled (6) more than double any other player from either team, according to WhoScored.

Birmingham’s number six had 50 touches, the second highest in the Blues side, and created one chance.

The all-action teenager also made two tackles, two interceptions and one clearance.

Speaking after last night’s draw against a side that was relegated from the Premier League, Eustace said that it was Hannibal’s high level of performances and work rate which were keeping him in his starting line-up.

Eustace said: “It is his performances, it is as simple as that. You can see he is a very good player, a very good player. He is making a big difference, with and without the ball.

“He is working hard and is a great teammate to all the boys. He is a good player isn’t he? And we have got to play good players.

“There will be times when he will come out the team, be rested, have a dip in form. At the moment he is doing well, so, hopefully, it will continue.”

After receiving praise from Eustace, Hannibal will be hoping to make his fourth consecutive start when Birmingham face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday.
