Manchester United fans are enjoying a brief break before the upcoming FA Cup tie after a hectic December.
A packed December fixture schedule proved chaotic for Manchester United, with the unpredictable team turning in a collection of mixed performances.
The month was book-ended with away defeats to Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, with Erik ten Hag’s side continuing to struggle on the road.
This has made picking a player of the month for December pretty difficult – although one name has stood out.

Alejandro Garnacho tipped to win
The topic of Manchester United’s player of the month for December was discussed on MUTV’s The Debate, and Alejandro Garnacho is sounding like the lead contender.
He was the name recommended for former Manchester United players Wes Brown and Danny Webber, as their personal choices.
Brown said: “He was fantastic against Aston Villa, he’s a player you could see is getting better and better every game.
“He’s maturing, and hopefully consistency starts to come with it as well.”
Webber backed this view, commenting: “I’m going to go with Garnacho.
“The way he’s played against Aston Villa, the way he dominated and dragged us back into the game, that performance alone stands out in my mind.”
Garnacho is developing into a top talent
Garnacho is only 19, and yet, he is standing out as a crucial player for Manchester United. He scored his first ever brace in the win over Villa and saw a third goal disallowed.
He then provided the assist in the recent game with Nottingham Forest, and he is showing signs of building a connection with Marcus Rashford, linking up with him for goals in both games.
Instead of being a case of ‘either, or’ Rashford or Garnacho, manager Erik ten Hag is beginning to figure out that getting both players onto the pitch together is in fact the best way forward.
