Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is celebrating being voted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.
The Champions League winning centre-back was inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier this week, and was presented with an award at a special ceremony yesterday.
Rio Ferdinand wrote on Instagram that he was ‘proud’ to be recognised and described it as the ‘icing on the cake’ for his career.
The former defender and now pundit played for Manchester United between 2002 and 2014, winning the Premier League six times.
He is still revered today, and his partnership with Nemanja Vidic is regarded as one of the very best Manchester United have ever seen.

Rio Ferdinand praised for Premier League Hall of Fame induction
It is not just Manchester United supporters who are full of praise for Rio Ferdinand. His peers are also happy for him, from teammates to opponents.
There was a succession of responses on his Instagram feed from big games, congratulating Ferdinand on his big achievment.
Current Manchester United star Diogo Dalot reached out, as did former teammates Juan Sebastian Veron and Patrice Evra.
Luka Modric and Cesc Fabregas also sent messages, as did current Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy, who said it was ‘fully deserved’.

Rio Ferdinand is part of a Manchester United cohort dominating the Premier League Hall of Fame.
Sir Alex Ferguson was the first manager inducted, along with players David Beckham, Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Wayne Rooney, Peter Schmeichel, and Paul Scholes. Now Rio Ferdinand joins the esteemed list.
