Kaoru Mitoma has been described as a ‘Manchester United player’ as he continues to dazzle for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Whilst Manchester United have started the new season in rather unconvincing fashion, the same can’t be said of Brighton.

The Seagulls have picked up where they left off last season with some thrilling performances.

Brighton smashed newly-promoted Luton Town 4-1 on the opening weekend of the season before beating Wolverhampton Wanderers by the same score on Saturday.

Eight goals in two games to start the season is pretty astonishing form and it’s no surprise that Kaoru Mitoma is at the heart of it all.

Kaoru Mitoma shows his quality once again

Mitoma got Brighton’s season started in style as he put in an inch-perfect cross for Solly March to head home against Luton.

The Japanese winger was a constant menace against the Hatters before turning his attention to Wolvs.

Mitoma produced a stunning solo goal to open the scoring against Wolves.

Driving past four Wolves players, Mitoma carried the ball from the left flank all the way into the box before calmly slotting home.

Mitoma then turned provider for Pervis Estupinan to make it 2-0 as he helped the Seagulls demolish a team who caused United major problems last week.

Mitoma backed for Manchester United

Pundit Garth Crooks has now named Mitoma in his Team of the Week on BBC Sport and even backed him for Manchester United.

Crooks told BBC Sport that he can’t actually believe Mitoma is still at the Amex Stadium and believes he would be perfect at Old Trafford.

Crooks noted that he has never seen United wingers Jadon Sancho and Antony produce the kind of quality Mitoma provided against Wolves.

The former Tottenham man believes that Mitoma is a ‘United player’ if ever he saw one, seemingly believing that he would shine in the famous red shirt.

“What a goal. The run, control and quality of finish against Wolves were world-class. In fact Mitoma has been producing this type of form with such regularity that I can’t believe he’s still on the south coast,” said Crooks.

“Manchester United have Jadon Sancho and Antony in their ranks and I haven’t seen anything like the quality or ability from either of those two players that I have seen from this lad. How do United get it so wrong? I accept that Old Trafford is a daunting stage and the stakes are much higher there, but Mitoma is a United player if ever I saw one,” he added.

Brighton tend to sell for huge money and United would have to dig very, very deep in order to sign Mitoma.

We can’t really see that happening any time soon but can only hope to see Sancho or Antony taking some inspiration from Mitoma moving forward.
