Barcelona star says he’s ‘always liked’ Marcus Rashford and claims Man Utd loanee is ‘extremely dangerous’

Marcus Rashford is proving to be a popular loan signing at Barcelona, earning praise from another one of his teammates.

After an unconvincing loan spell at Aston Villa, nobody was quite sure what the future held for Marcus Rashford away from Manchester United.

Impressively, Rashford was able to secure a loan transfer to Barcelona, and he has not looked back.

Rashford provided an assist in El Clasico, which followed a consistent run of form sparked by his two goals in the Champions League away at Newcastle in early September.

Barcelona are seeing the positive side of a rejuvenated Rashford, and it looks likely they will want to activate their purchase clause at the end of the season.

Wojciech Szczesny on Marcus Rashford

Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is pleased to team up with Marcus Rashford in Spain, a player he has long admired from afar.

The Pole was out on loan at Roma in 2016 when Rashford made his Premier League debut for United against his Arsenal side, and scored twice past Petr Cech.

Szczesny told Spanish channel Cadena Ser that he has been very impressed by Rashford’s contribution since he joined, and knows he is capable of more.

But he also laced his praise with a condition, saying that to reach his top levels, he must replicate his best training form in matches.

Szczesny explained: “He’s a player I’ve always liked. Direct, complete, with something special ever since he arrived in the Premier League at 18 or 19.

“I think he has many more goals in him than he’s shown.

“When he trains well, he’s unstoppable. If he starts to unleash that magic in matches, he’s extremely dangerous.”

Rashford has often earned praise for his training

While he lost his enthusiasm for life at Manchester United early under Ruben Amorim, Marcus Rashford has frequently been cited as a top trainer.

Even in the troubled spell under Ralf Rangnick, the German coach praised the way Rashford trained and admitted he was puzzled why he could not replicate the same form in matches.

“He has been good in training and I very much hope, not only for himself but also for the team, that he can also transform that onto the pitch,” he told club media in 2022.

In a World Cup year, Rashford has all the motivation he needs to deliver on the pitch, to earn a place at USA 2026, and also secure a permanent switch to Barcelona. It is going to plan so far.
