Manchester United supporters continue to wait on Frenkie de Jong, with a mix of frustration and growing disinterest.
While fans would love for the club to acquire Erik ten Hag’s top target, this is one of those never-ending transfer sagas which drains all potential joy from the transfer.
There’s no guarantee it gets done, although The Guardian report Ten Hag is prepared to wait, to see if the stand-off between De Jong and Barcelona can be resolved.
Barcelona want to sell the midfielder, who is reluctant to leave, amid a wage dispute, The Telegraph report. Meanwhile, the uncertainty is delaying a decision on the future of another player.

Barcelona delay decision over midfielder’s future
The drawn out Frenkie de Jong transfer saga is no good for Manchester United, and it is not particularly helpful for Barcelona either.
The La Liga side are delaying a decision on the future of promising youngster Nico Gonzalez, until De Jong’s future is settled, report Mundo Deportivo.
The Spain under-21 international has 36 first team appearances at Barcelona, but is down the pecking order at the club, and there is interest from clubs in taking him on loan.
Mundo Deportivo report Barcelona boss Xavi has told Gonzalez he will get playing time if De Jong leaves.

A loan deal would only be sanctioned if De Jong were to stay. The report adds,”the will of the club is still that he ends up accepting his departure in the remainder of the summer.”
This situation highlights the knock-on effect of the De Jong deal at Barcelona, and there could be one at Manchester United.
Decisions will be made on the likes of Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal, potentially impacted by whether De Jong, or an alternative, is signed or not. For now, we wait.
