Ayden Heaven produced a colossal defensive performance to help Manchester United defeat Newcastle.
Manchester United might have struck gold with the signing of Ayden Heaven.
The former Arsenal trainee made the switch to Manchester United at the start of 2025, with Jason Wilcox desperate to lure him to Old Trafford.

The defender’s transfer looked like a bargain when he made his debut, and while life is not always straightforward at United, Heaven is ending the year on a high.
The centre-back may only be 19, but he played with the experience of a 29-year-old to help Manchester United beat Newcastle 1-0.

Ayden Heaven thankful for win
Manchester United conceded four goals in the team’s previous game at Old Trafford, a frenetic 4-4 draw with Bournemouth.
Heaven did not have the greatest game in that match, caught out of position a couple of times. There was a huge improvement in this one. This was his fifth consecutive start, and he is benefiting from the regular game time.
Playing as part of a back four amid a system change from Ruben Amorim, Ayden Heaven looked comfortable playing alongside Lisandro Martinez.
Heaven was named the Sky Sports man of the match by Gary Neville. And he was delighted to be honoured.
The defender posted to Instagram: “What a game , what a team performance we have to build on this !
Proud to get MOTM❤️❤️”
Heaven was inundated with responses from his teammates, who were clearly impressed. Including Amad, currently away at the AFCON.
- Amad: Prime Ayden 😂😂
- Shea Lacey: ❤️❤️👏
- Tyler Fredricson: 🔝
There was also a message from his former Arsenal colleague Max Dowman, who posted: “😍😍”.

Heaven staying optimistic
Manchester United have temporarily moved up to fifth place in the Premier League table. Teams around us are due to play tomorrow.
Heaven is setting his sights high, even considering a title challenge, telling Sky Sports that they could ‘push for the league’.
His optimism is refreshing, and if the team play with the same kind of commitment we did against Newcastle, then we will certainly be in the mix for the top places… even if a real title challenge is too distant.
