Manchester United have had some success stories in the transfer market under Ineos, but no signing has proven better value for money than Ayden Heaven.
Since taking over footballing operations for Manchester United, there has been a conscious effort to recruit young talents for cheap who have undeniable world-class potential.
Currently in the midst of the transfer window, and there are some success stories to look at as justification for the plan to continue being implemented.
Arguably, the biggest success has been United signing Ayden Heaven from Arsenal for just £1.5m, with the 18-year-old going from a Gunners academy player, right into the first team for Ruben Amorim.
United beat Barcelona to sign Heaven in January, and on almost every appearance since he signed, the defender has been flawless.
Speaking about the teenager, Wayne Rooney has been full of praise for Heaven, which is heavy praise from a club legend. But now Heaven has revealed which current player he has been leaning on in his young career.

Ayden Heaven praises the impact of Harry Maguire
Within Old Trafford, Heaven is viewed as a potentially generational talent, and his development is being helped by the quality of defenders he is now able to learn from.
Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Heaven has revealed that he has been looking to Harry Maguire for advice and guidance in his first year as a United player.
“Harry Maguire also [has been a big help. Before matches, me and Harry have a lot of talks on tactics.”
Continuing in the same interview, Heaven also admitted that he has benefited from the guidance of Darren Fletcher.
“Darren Fletcher helps me a lot in training and matches. My first day at Carrington, he spoke with me. I think he does tend to help a lot of young players.”
Fletcher is tipped to become United’s U18 head coach, and Heaven has certainly endorsed that outcome with his comments here.
Another player to get a mention from Heaven was Mason Mount, with the midfielder remembering his first encounter with Heaven, which came during pre-season 2024.
“I saw him in the canteen and he said he remembers when I hit him in the first minute.”
Harry Maguire set for vital season at Manchester United
This time last year, it was assumed that Maguire was heading into his final season with United. However, after making himself key in the first weeks, Amorim handed Maguire a contract extension.
From this point on, Maguire became a leader on the pitch for the club and vital for Amorim’s system, especially in Europe.
Now, Maguire is once again heading into what might be his final year at the club, but it could be a very important campaign for the experienced defender.
This is because on either side of Maguire could be two teenagers whom he will play a big role in helping develop and guide to success.
United have a trio of defensive wonderkids, and Maguire is the perfect rock to help them become consistent immediately to benefit the club.
