Michael Carrick’s spell as the head coach of Manchester United has been perfect so far, which defies belief considering how Roy Keane viewed his staff.
It has been a fortnight since Manchester United confirmed Michael Carrick and all his coaches as they got to work masterminding the 2-0 win over City.
However, while Steve Holland was hailed as an excellent appointment pretty unanimously, this wasn’t the case for the rest of Carrick’s staff.
In particular, Roy Keane ranted about Jonny Evans’ role in the coaching staff in comments that screamed jealousy.
“He’s on the beach two weeks ago Jonny Evans. Jonny Evans leaves Man United four or five weeks ago as a loans manager and then Darren Fletcher gives him a job, strangely enough gives him a job.
“You’re on about getting your coaching staff in, you’re praising one of them, saying he’s experienced, and then we just let the other two go, Jonathan Woodgate and Jonny Evans. What has Jonny Evans done to be a coach of Man United’s first team?”
But now Ayden Heaven has made this look ridiculous.
After wins vs City and Arsenal… should Michael Carrick get the Man Utd permanent job?

Ayden Heaven hails Jonny Evans role as Manchester United coach
It would have been fine to question the appointment of Evans, considering his lack of experience, but Keane did it in an incredibly disrespectful manner, which has been a trend recently.

Now, speaking on the latest episode of the Inside Carrington podcast, Heaven has highlighted Evans as a top appointment.
Yeah, it’s really good [trainings]. Jonny [Evans], especially, has been helping me a lot.
“Me and Leny [Yoro], after some of the sessions, we go to do extras and just work on that, you know, the basics. And even between drills, during their sessions, they’re always pulling me to the side and helping me with my positioning.
“I’ve enjoyed it so far. They’re a big help.”
This proves the value Evans brings, especially to the defenders with his wealth of experience, meaning he is a good coach despite not being qualified yet.
Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana also credits Evans with lots of his success, seeing the Northern Irish coach as a mentor whom he learned a lot from on and off the pitch.
Should club legends protect the badge or tell the truth?🤔
Michael Carrick’s coaching staff fixes the one issue he previously had
While Keane suggested that Carrick had just given ‘jobs to the boys’ in his staff, it couldn’t be further from the truth.
After Ruben Amorim effectively had non-qualified coaches who were his friends at the club, Carrick’s group is a breath of fresh air.
Holland is as experienced as they come, while Jonathan Woodgate is a controversial pick but has experience and is being used in a small role.
Evans isn’t qualified just yet; however, he has rapport with the squad, and as is now evidenced by Heaven’s praise.
Carrick, having defensive expert Holland and Evans as a personal coach for the defenders, has fixed the biggest concern the United legend had at Middlesbrough, where he was criticised for his defensive structure.
Keane needs to rethink his harsh words in the future, which border on disrespect, as fans are getting wise to his tricks.
