Ralf Rangnick is being lined up for a surprise appointment for the Austria international team.
Newspaper Kurier report sports director Peter Schöttel flew to Manchester for a meeting with Rangnick on Monday.

Austria are looking for a new manager after Franco Foda announced his intentions to step down after last week’s friendly with Scotland, STV reported.
The nation were defeated by Wales in the World Cup qualifying play-offs last week.
Rangnick undecided
Kurier report Rangnick has made no decision on whether the Austria job is one he intends to take up. The newspaper note he will not be swayed by money.
The OFB have since issued a denial that any meeting took place between manager and the federation.
Rangnick, who is German, is currently the Manchester United interim manager, a role which runs until May.
Beyond that he will take up a job as a consultant with United, although the details on this have yet to be formally announced.
Fitting both jobs in?
A report in The Mail last night reported Rangnick would work only six days per month as a consultant for United.
Rangnick could then have a chance to fit the international job in alongside the United role, if he wanted to, with international football less pressing in terms of time on a day to day basis.
This would of course leave him open to criticism and scrutiny, from both United and Austria’s end, as he finds himself split between the two.
Six days per month on United seems low, but it depends what United are actually asking of him once the new manager is appointed.
Rangnick spoke earlier this week about the overhaul required at United, in which he suggested the club require several transfer windows to sort out the mess at the club right now.
