Manchester United’s problem at right-back was exposed at Molineux in another 2-1 loss.

Ashley Young was sent off after picking up two red cards in the space of five minutes early in the second half.

There can now be no messing about in the transfer market. A new right-back is a priority, and linked star Aaron Wan-Bissaka must be that man.

United are claimed by The Mail to be tracking Wan Bissaka, valued at £40 million by Crystal Palace.

It’s a fair price for the future England international, who has had an outstanding season.

Wan Bissaka was already said to be top of United’s list before last night.

Young, 33, is only a temporary fix. The prospect of him facing Barcelona next week isn’t a pleasant one.

United did sign Diogo Dalot last summer, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not currently deem him to be ahead of Young in the pecking order.

That’s concerning, and shows United need reinforcements now, and Dalot can compete for a place and provide cover on the left and as a winger.

There will be more complicated transfer activity this summer. Wingers, defenders, and central midfielders are all required. Possibly a new striker too.

A more than fair price for Wan Bissaka is a sensible way to get the ball rolling, and United should look to get this wrapped up as soon as possible.
