Former Manchester United winger and full-back Ashley Young has predicted who will be the next manager at Old Trafford.

Following Manchester United’s brilliant 2-1 FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley, the attention immediately turned to the future of Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman had a rather disastrous second season at Old Trafford as the club missed out on Champions League football and were eliminated from Europe’s elite club competition at the group stage.

There were consistent rumours that the Red Devils were about to pull the trigger on the Dutchman but in the end, Ineos decided to stick with Ten Hag.

Ashley Young predicts United’s next manager

Whilst the Red Devils have stuck with Ten Hag, the future of the Dutchman will certainly be under the microscope if results continue to spiral.

Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna were among the names to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Ashley Young, speaking on talkSPORT, has claimed that he believes McKenna could be the next manager at United.

“I think he’s got everything to be a top, top manager,” Young said. “I saw how much passion and love he has for football.

“Could he go to United now? Yes he could, he knows the club and he could be an interesting appointment. He’s one of those coaches that just wants to be successful.

“I think he could be the next United manager.”

McKenna was linked with the job at United and also Brighton & Hove Albion but the Ipswich manager chose to remain in East Anglia.

Ten Hag will be under pressure from the start next season

The Dutchman has been given a stay of execution but the former Ajax boss will be under pressure right from the start of the season.

United completed the signing of French defender Leny Yoro last week but the 18-year-old will be under pressure from the start, like his manager.

The first few weeks of the season will be interesting. It is imperative that United start the season on the front foot, you wonder if Ten Hag will risk starting a teenager in the heart of the defence for the early weeks of the campaign.
