Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta thinks Manchester United have signed a ‘huge talent’ in Rasmus Hojlund with the £64 million striker in line to make his Premier League debut at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Away from home at their old rivals from the capital, arguably the most transformative of Manchester United’s summer signings could hardly have timed his return from injury any better.

Rasmus Hojlund is yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils since that big-money arrival from Atalanta. That could change this weekend, however; Ten Hag confirming that the Denmark international may even be thrown straight into the starting XI at the Emirates.

“So we had a good training week. And tomorrow we have the final training (session),” Ten Hag tells The Athletic. “(Hojlund) is doing well so he will be available. I think he is ready to start.”

Rasmus Hojlund set for Manchester United debut

Hojlund broke the 20-goal barrier in all competitions for Atalanta and Denmark in 2022/23. Anthony Martial is likely to make way for him against Arsenal, allowing Marcus Rashford to wreak his unique brand of havoc drifting in from the left, as against Nottingham Forest last week.

And Arteta could be forgiven for cursing his luck; Hojlund recovering from a back problem earlier than expected as Arsenal face their biggest test of the new campaign so far.

“He’s a huge talent,” the former Manchester City assistant says of Hojlund, via Dom Smith. “He’ll have to prove that in this league.”

Reguilon could make Red Devils bow too

Sergio Reguilon could also make his first United appearance against Arsenal. The left-back joins on loan from Tottenham Hotspur following injuries to both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

“He’s very experienced player,” Ten Hag adds. “(Reguilon) played for big clubs, already played a lot of La Liga and Premier League games, he has a very good background. He can play very intense football. We are happy (to sign him).

“(United) had a problem with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured. We responded well in that emergency situation.”
