Manchester United’s academy appears to be brimming with talent right now and Arnau Puigmal is one of the most exciting young players.
The Spaniard scored at the weekend for the under-18s against Norwich, his second goal of the season.
Puigmal has three assists to his name too and is playing an important role for Kieran McKenna’s team.
The teenager is into his second season at United after his move from Espanyol was made official last September.
Born in Barcelona, Puigmal is a Spain youth international and United beat strong competition for his signature.
Puigmal has been impressive and earned praise earlier this year from head of academy Nicky Butt.
He said: “He has a great attitude to learn and he has quickly picked up English, which will be a great help to him going forward.
“It is clear to see that he has all the attributes to develop into a top player and have a fine future ahead of him.”
The 17-year-old spoke earlier this year about how he has a five-year plan to become a success at Old Trafford. It may not take that long.
Right now he is on track and has been featuring for the club in the under-19 UEFA Youth League too.
His progress is going to be exciting to watch over the next couple of years. How great would it be if the next Spanish midfield sensation can flourish into a superstar at Old Trafford and save the club millions.
