‘Any of them’: Danny Murphy makes the case for 26-year-old Man Utd ace to start v Sheffield Utd

Scott McTominay’s heroics last weekend against Brentford should earn him another chance under Erik ten Hag, according to Danny Murphy.

Largely frozen out this season, Scott McTominay staked his claim for Erik ten Hag to give him another chance. Coming off the bench, McTominay turned defeat into victory with two goals in the dying moments.

These late goals showed he can bring clutch moments which are much needed as United continue to struggle this season.

Therefore, with so many players being poor, it is the perfect chance for McTominay to be re-inserted into the starting XI at Old Trafford.

This is something Danny Murphy and Anton Ferdinand agree with, as they questioned who McTominay would replace in the team.

Murphy says Ten Hag should drop anyone for McTominay

While discussing the comeback on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel, Murphy and Ferdinand were wondering if Ten Hag will give McTominay a chance.

Ferdinand asked, “Will he [Erik ten Hag] reward him for knuckling down?”

To which Murphy said, “I think he will you know,” before Ferdinand also asked who he would replace.

“He could drop any of them,” Murphy replied, “I’ve seen the last 2 or 3 games, he can drop any of them no problem whatsoever”.

McTominay definitely deserves a chance in the team after his performance against Brentford.

The only issue that remains is where does he play and who does he replace in the team.

Using the starting XI v Brentford as a guide, McTominay’s best shot could be taking Casemiro’s place after he was hooked at half-time. It has also been suggested Casemiro could have a knock so in that case a change will definitely be needed.

In this scenario, the Scottish star would line-up next to Sofyan Amrabat, with a license to roam forward and get involved in the box where he is most dangerous.
