Ajax stars past and present have bid farewell to Erik ten Hag in an emotional goodbye message to the manager.

Players who featured under Ten Hag during his Ajax spell have wished the manager good luck in his new role at Manchester United.

Antony says he will be available

Along with comments from former United stars Edwin van der Sar and Daley Blind, perhaps the most notable comments among the tribute video came from Brazilian winger Antony.

He pledged to be available whenever the manager needed him.

Antony said: “Know that I will always stand with you if you need me.”

As far as ‘come and get me pleas’ go, this one is not exactly subtle.

Antony also added: “I want to wish you all the best at your new club. I also want to thank you for everything you taught me. I am thankful all the opportunities and learning every day.”

The Telegraph has reported Ten Hag is keen to sign Antony for Manchester United.

In an interview with De Telegraaf, Ten Hag candidly admitted: “If Antony would go… it would be a blow for Ajax because in their current squad there is nobody to replace him.”

Ultimately a transfer will come down to the clubs, whether a fee can be agreed. If United and Ajax come to terms on a deal, it is hard to imagine Antony rejecting the chance to work with Ten Hag again – and his latest comments back this up.

Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber also comment

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong was also among the players to feature in the video, amid claims from Spanish journalist Gerard Romero that he is close to signing for Manchester United.

De Jong said: “You have proven yourself as a top trainer and you’ve deserved this step. I want to wish you good luck and best regards.”

Jurrien Timber, another reported transfer target, commented: “A great step, to a big club with big players, in a big competition. I 100 per cent hope you and Manchester United are going to enjoy the football you are going to play.”

The Mirror has linked Timber with a move to Old Trafford, with the centre-back winning Ajax’s ‘talent of the year award’ chosen by Ten Hag and his staff.
