Antony and Casemiro both came through the youth setup at Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo and have joined Manchester United this summer.

The wideman has now completed his move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day and conducted his first interview with club media.

Erik ten Hag worked with Antony at Ajax and has already suggested that he will use the Brazilian as a right-winger at United.

But Antony did say he could play as a number ten or as a left-winger, indicating that he could add versatility to Ten Hag’s frontline.

He also said he was excited to play alongside Casemiro at United, stating: “We come from the same Sao Paulo youth team.

“We never played together because of the age difference but to be sharing a dressing room and pitch and playing alongside him now is really something special.

“I’m really happy that we’ve both come from the same place, the Sao Paulo youth set-up and today we’re playing together at this great club.

“As we’ve said in messages to each other, we hope to write our names in the club’s history.”

It is to be hoped that Ten Hag’s strong working relationship with Antony helps the wideman settle at Old Trafford after his move.

The expectations and scrutiny will go up on the wideman, with the substantial pricetag paid for him also adding some more pressure.

It seems the 22-year-old has the temperament to deal with that and he has people within the dressing room who he can connect with instantly.

He also played with Lisandro Martinez at Ajax, and has operated alongside Fred at international level too, which can only help.
