Manchester United have lost 2-1 in the FA Cup final against Manchester City despite a solid performance from Erik ten Hag’s men.

The result will come as a huge disappointment given the manner in which the goals were conceded.

Both goals came from outside the area and David de Gea was poor not to save the second.

Adding to this United also bested City on expected goals and chances created. This should be a great indicator toward a solid 2023/24 season.

United ultimately lost the game based on two moments from City and conceding two long range goals.

The team should for the most part be holding their heads high, in particular Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw and Alejandro Garnacho who made instant impact off the bench.

Despite not capturing a second trophy, Erik ten Hag has stated in a post match interview with BBC that this season has been successful.

Antony reacts

One player absent at Wembley was Antony who missed the game through injury.

However following the game the Brazilian tweeted his season review.

“Proud of our team!! A very intense season!! We were champions, we are back in the Champions League. We will be even stronger next season!! Proud to be United!”

Antony has enjoyed a fruitful season at United and has clearly developed a huge passion for his new side.

He has emphasised the message that seems to be universal at United, next season will be even better.
