Manchester United winger Antony is back in training for Brazil after missing two days due to illness.
ESPN Brasil reports Antony trained in full for Brazil ahead of their second match of the World Cup, against Switzerland at 4pm later today.
His availability in attack is welcome for Brazil boss Tite, with star forward Neymar out with an ankle injury. He missed the most recent training session.
Along with Fred, Casemiro and Alex Telles, Antony is available for selection as Brazil look for a second successive victory.
Antony back in training
Antony is not first choice for Brazil and was on the bench for their opening game victory over Serbia. He was a 79th minute substitute, coming on with Brazil 2-0 up.
ESPN Brasil report Real Madrid forward Rodrygo is expected to replace Neymar in the starting line-up.
But the report states Brazil boss Tite knows he can ‘count on’ Antony if he chooses to use him, confident he is fully fit.
The winger was talked up by clubmate Casemiro, who cited him when discussing Brazil’s strength in depth.
Casemiro was quoted by Voetbal International: “We sometimes even joke that we feel sorry for the opponent. If you take Raphinha out, Antony comes in. For Richarlison, you have Jesus. We have a lot of choice.”
A win against Switzerland will seal Brazil’s qualification for the last 16 with one game remaining.
This would provide a chance to rotate for the final group game against Cameroon, potentially giving Antony the opportunity to start.
