Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha led Brazil’s attack in a convincing win over Scotland at the World Cup.
Brazil secured top place in Group C at the 2026 World Cup following a 3-0 victory over Scotland.
Vinicius Jr scored Brazil’s opening two goals as Brazil led Scotland by two goals at the break. That was before Matheus Cunha secured the win with a cool finish on the hour mark.
The Manchester United forward is set to keep his place in the team for the knockout phase of the tournament.

Although Cunha was named on the bench in Brazil’s opening match against Morocco, the United star has started the last two games against Haiti and Scotland. It has certainly helped gain his popularity in his home nation.
It remains to be seen who Brazil will face in the Round of 32, but Cunha is likely to keep his place in the team after scoring in back-to-back group matches.
Cunha took to Instagram after the win over Scotland to share a series of photos, including his surfing celebration, along with the caption: “We did it again, for you, for us.”
This prompted a flurry of positive responses in the comments section. Brazil goalscorer Vinicius Jr showed his appreciation for Cunha, writing: “Cunha Cunha Cunha.”
Meanwhile, two former United players were among the replies. Antony wrote: “I love you so much mlk [sic], you deserve too much.”
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand wrote: “Vamosssss”
This World Cup will do Cunha’s reputation no harm if he continues to shine for Brazil. It’s further proof that United have a cracking player on their hands.
