In yesterday’s pre-match press conference, Conte was asked for his thoughts on the 52-year-old.
Conte said: “Honestly I don’t know him very well because we have never played against [one and other].
“He did very well with Ajax and for sure he has taken a great job for United because United is one of the best teams in the world.
“He is trying to bring his ideas into the pitch, and I think also the club back him in the transfer market. Like other managers and coaches, he needs time to work and to try to improve his team.”
Manchester United spent a record amount during the summer transfer window as the Reds splashed out on Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony.
The influential Christian Eriksen was brought in on a free transfer and Martin Dubravka was signed on a season-long loan from Newcastle United.
The Reds, who sit fifth in the table, are seven points behind Spurs ahead of tomorrow night’s match, but the north Londoners have played a game more.
