Anthony Elanga sends cryptic message to Fred which poses questions over both their futures

Manchester United’s season has come to an end and there are open questions over the futures of several players.

One of these is young forward Anthony Elanga, an unused substitute at Wembley, who last featured in the Premier League back in March.

A report last week via The MEN claimed Manchester United could sell Elanga for as little as £10 million in the upcoming transfer window.

Another with question marks is Fred, whose contract at Old Trafford expires in June 2024.

Anthony Elanga message to Fred

Fred was among the Manchester United starters who took to social media after Saturday’s narrow defeat at Wembley.

There was a message in response from Anthony Elanga, who wrote to Fred, “Thanks for everything brother. What a player.”

The choice of words from Anthony Elanga come across like a player who knows he has shared a squad with the Brazilian for the final time.

Is this because Elanga knows he is leaving? Or because he expects Fred to leave? Or both?

Fred comments on his future

Quoted by The Telegraph, Fred admitted there is uncertainty over what the future holds.

He said: “I still don’t know, I have to talk with my family, I still have one year left in my contract here,.

“Now it’s holidays’ time and a good opportunity to rest. I’ll talk to my staff, to the club and see what’s everyone’s decision.

“I do have to talk with Ten Hag as well, he’s the manager and the conversation has to involve everyone.

““We have to see how next season will plan out. I want to be important, I want to help the team, so we’ll see. But I’ve always been and still am very happy at Manchester United.”
