Donny Van de Beek appears further away from a Manchester United exit after Real Sociedad ‘agreed’ a deal to sign the Premier League misfit’s alternative.

Not so long ago, it looked as if Erik ten Hag could have another £100 million to play with in the transfer window. Dean Henderson was heading to Nottingham Forest, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay were the subject of big bids from West Ham, and Donny Van de Beek was in talks ove a move to La Liga.

Since then, however, talks between Forest and Henderson have stalled. West Ham have moved on from McTominay, and are turning their back on Maguire too.

Van de Beek, meanwhile, also appears stuck at Manchester United after Real Sociedad ‘agreed’ a deal to bring in fellow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan from Dinamo Moscow instead for a cool £10 million.

“We note that the terms of the transfer between Dynamo and the Spanish side Real Sociedad are fully agreed,” reads a statement from the Russian outfit, via Sport24.

La Real president Jokin Apperibay all-but confirmed, earlier this week, that Van de Beek would not be on his way to Anoeta if Sociedad were successful in their pursuit of Zakharyan. There is, he says, only room for one new midfielder in Imanol Alguacil’s squad.

Old Trafford exit looks dead

“We are still working on (signing Zakharyan),” Apperibay tells El Desmarque.

“I don’t think we will sign more midfielders (after Zakharyan). We have youngsters in whom we trust a lot and we have a commitment (in them) at home. Real is not thinking of signing two midfielders.

“At no time has that been on the table. There are many youngsters who have done very well, and are going to do very well in the first-team.

“The youngsters are going to be present and future at Real.”
