Manchester United face another injury problem with Raphael Varane potentially set to miss weeks of action.

Raphael Varane was substituted at half-time during Manchester United’s 3-2 weekend victory over Nottingham Forest.

Sky Sports report Varane could face up to six weeks of action. The reports are not yet confirmed by Manchester United, however, he was not pictured in training photos released from Carrington on Monday.

Growing injury list

Manchester United have a growing injury list, and Raphael Varane facing a spell out is more bad news.

In defence Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both out, while in midfield Kobbie Mainoo is also missing with injury.

Striker Rasmus Hojlund is also yet to play since his signing was confirmed at the start of August.

Transfer impact and games Varane could miss

Manchester United will promote Victor Lindelof as a starter in place of Varane. However, the Frenchman’s injury is expected to kill off Harry Maguire‘s chances of an exit.

United will likely fast-track a deal for Jonny Evans as cover, while it is possible the club could accelerate plans to sign Jean-Clair Todibo.

Varane has struggled with injuries ever since he signed for United in 2021, and this latest setback is a big frustration.

It would see him miss upcoming games against Arsenal, Brighton, Burnley and Crystal Palace, and Brentford plus two Champions League group stage matches
