Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is recovering from a season ending injury – and is receiving plenty of support.
The centre-back underwent surgery on his broken metatarsal early this week and shared an image from the hospital bed.
Martinez missing the rest of the season is a tough blow for Manchester United, where he is one of the contenders for the club’s player of the season award.
He has received support from his Manchester United teammates, with Harry Maguire hailing his ‘amazing season’ earlier this week.
Martinez gets more support
Lisandro Martinez is a valued part of the Argentina squad which won the World Cup at the end of 2022.
While there was no public message of support from Lionel Messi, international colleagues Angel di Maria and Paulo Dybala both reached out.
Another to do so was Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, who also reached out to respond to his Instagram post.
There are no international matches of consequence for Martinez to be rushed back for this summer.
The next time he features will be in pre-season for Manchester United, with the full itinerary of he club’s summer tour yet to be released.
It will be a joy to see him back. Despite the clean sheet at the weekend, we are missing The Butcher already.
