Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has praised playmaker Bruno Fernandes after his display against Fulham.
Erik ten Hag secured a vital late win on Saturday afternoon with Manchester United beating Fulham 1-0.
United weren’t in top form and looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage.
Bruno Fernandes popped up with a moment of real quality though, firing home an injury-time winner to give Ten Hag three crucial points.
Fernandes was slammed for his display against Manchester City a week ago but the praise is coming in for him now…
Andre Onana praises Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes
Fernandes is being hailed by United teammate Andre Onana having turned in a big performance at Craven Cottage.
Onana told The Mirror that his fine saves against Fulham may have been important to United’s win, but not as much as Fernandes and his performance.
Onana suggested that Fernandes was just ‘so important’ to United’s win and he was ‘very happy’ to see the Portuguese star find the net.
“Maybe it was important but today the most important thing was the victory,” said Onana. “I will speak about the goal from Bruno, he was so important to us and the celebration says everything, so I’m very happy for the victory of today and great goal for Bruno,” he added.
Fernandes faced a difficult week amid suggestions that he should be stripped of the United captaincy after the defeat to Manchester City.
The playmaker needed a big display to calm those suggestions and he certainly came up big with the winner against Fulham.

Fernandes stats against Fulham
Fernandes was influential in West London, having 68 touches of the ball – only Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot had more for United.
The 29-year-old also had three shots – all of which were on target.
Fernandes only recorded one key pass but did also chip in with one tackle won and two successful dribbles.
Ten Hag will have been delighted with Fernandes for how he took his goal, taking two Fulham players out of the game before firing home.
More of that will be needed with Fernandes registering only his third league goal of the season when we know that he is capable of many more.
