Manchester United loanee Amad scored the winner and laid on an assist in his battle with Red Devils teammate Hannibal.
The Ivorian’s Sunderland side came up against Hannibal’s Birmingham City in a game where Tahith Chong also came on as a substitute.
Amad stole the show, as he helped Sunderland open the scoring by laying on Ellis Simms’ opening goal after 25 minutes.
Then, just after half-time, he made it 2-0 with a stunning strike, which proved to be crucial. Birmingham pulled one back but the Black Cats held out for victory.

Amad lays on masterclass against Birmingham
Speaking to the Sunderland Echo after the game, manager Tony Mowbray was absolutely thrilled with the Ivorian: “Amad came to the party for us – and I feel he’s really settling in with the group.
“There’s an understanding now that this kid has got real talent and deserves to be respected within the team. For me to pick him over Patrick Roberts… I sat in a press room a couple of weeks ago and said I didn’t think there was a better player in the league than Roberts and yet tonight I’ve left him out.
“Amad has been unbelievable in training, so fast with his feet and direct, and his physical data from all our recent games has been incredible. He scored a wonderful goal, and we see him do that every day in training.
“We’re delighted he’s here with us – he got poked in the eye which is why he had to bring him off, he was struggling to see out of it. “Hopefully that will just settle down, I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
Amad took to Instagram after the game to celebrate the goal and the win in Sunderland’s final game before the World Cup.
It has not been easy for him since he came over to England and he has never had a run of games in the United side to prove himself.
Then, he went to Rangers, starting well as he set about proving himself at another huge club but fading from view as the season went on.
It has been a bit of a slow burn for him at Sunderland, but it seems he has got his feet under the table now and United fans will be watching with interest.
