Manchester United winger Amad returned to action at the weekend and opened the scoring for Sunderland in their 3-0 win over Millwall.
Amad now has four goals in six games for Sunderland, and is finding a way to make an impact.
The 20-year-old is benefitting from a regular run in the team, which he didn’t get at United, or at previous loan side Rangers, or even previous club Atalanta.
Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray has shown great faith in him, which he has highlighted with his recent comments in the wake of their weekend win.

Amad deserves his starting spot
Mowbray explained to the Northern Echo that he believes Sunderland’s Patrick Roberts to be the best player in the Championship – but Amad’s form has left him no option but to leave him out.
He said: “In my opinion, Patrick is probably the most talented footballer in this league, yet I have to sit him down in my office and (tell him) he’s not playing. Why am I not playing if you think I’m that talented?’
“Well, because this kid assists and scores goals Pat, and with total respect, you scored two amazing goals away at Reading this season and you’ve had some assists, but Diallo’s on fire at the moment and he plays in the same position as you’.
“It’s amazing to think Patrick is sitting on the bench. yet Amad’s goals and assists are keeping him out at the moment.”
Whether Mowbray’s assertion about Roberts being the league’s most talented player is right or not, what’s important is that the manager believes it enough to go on record with it – and is still prepared to leave him out for Amad.
From a Manchester United perspective, this is what we want, a manager willing to give Amad a proper chance, especially when he deserves it.
Amad is rising to the challenge, and clearly Sunderland’s options mean he won’t start every game. But right now he is ‘on fire’ and they can’t afford to leave him out.
