Amad enjoys more training success and is omitted from Ivory Coast's AFCON squad

When Cristiano Ronaldo posted a photo of the ‘winning team’ at Carrington from the midweek training session, it came as little surprise to see Amad was part of it.

It was the third time in recent weeks Amad had featured in a similar picture, and no similar pictures were posted of ‘winning teams’ during this time without the young talent.

This led to United fans on social media noting Amad’s training success, with one writing ‘Amad is always on the winning team’, and others calling for him to get more first team chances.

Now Amad is celebrating the run of success himself, after featuring in Nemanja Matic’s ‘winning team’ picture from Thursday’s training session.

The youngster posted a couple of photos to his Instagram feed celebrating the recent success he has enjoyed, with a message which read, ‘I don’t how how to lose’.

2022 boost for Amad

There was mixed news for Amad to emerge on Thursday amid Ivory Coast announcing their squad for 2022’s African Cup of Nations tournament.

United confirmed Amad was not named in the Ivory Coast squad, although teammate Eric Bailly will represent his country at the tournament in Cameroon.

Amad has had a difficult start to the season, starting only one match due to injury, which also saw a loan move to Feyenoord cancelled.

His absence from the AFCON may be disappointing for him from an international perspective, but it could be a major boost to his club career in 2022.

Amad could have the momentum to make a real run at challenging for the first team, and it seems he has really been impressing in training.

Or it could enable him to quite easily secure a loan move. This would have been complicated if he was in Cameroon for the tournament, with Eric Bailly expected to miss all of United’s fixtures after the Newcastle game, until Ivory Coast are eliminated.

If Amad does go out on loan, he could potentially do so in early January and get a full month under his belt at a new club before the AFCON even finishes.
