Amad Diallo provides fitness update in potential boost for Erik ten Hag

Manchester United have received a welcome injury boost surrounding the fitness of Ivorian winger Amad Diallo, who hasn’t featured this season.

The Red Devils have struggled for guile and creativity from their wide men this season with Marcus Rashford the only forward who has scored this season in the Premier League.

The dreaded right-hand side, which has been an issue for Manchester United for nearly a decade now, looks no nearer to being solved with Antony struggling for form and Jadon Sancho is still absent from the squad and a move to Chelsea possible.

This could leave a spot open for Amad Diallo and the winger may well be near a return to the Red Devils first team.

Amad’s update

The right-winger, who had an incredibly successful loan spell at Sunderland with 13 goals and 3 assists to his name, has provided an Instagram fitness update.

In the video, the 21-year-old is running on grass for the first time since he suffered his injury during pre-season with the caption: “Positive to be back on the grass”, so his return may not be too far away.

Whether the Ivorian would be given chances in the United first team with an under-pressure Erik ten Hag desperate for wins remains to be seen but nevertheless, this is a hugely positive for Amad.

Amad’s chance

The winger will never have a better chance of breaking into the United team when he returns to the squad with there being so many question marks with the current options.

Amad brings creativity, willingness to beat a man and most of all his efforts off the ball would be a big boost for Ten Hag’s side.

Under Tony Mowbray for the Black Cats, Amad looked like a world-beater and was scoring screamer after screamer in England’s second tier.

“Amad, he’s a magician with his left peg and he’s scored many goals like that this season,” Mowbray said to the Manchester Evening News following the winger’s stunning effort from outside of the box against Luton Town last season.

Well, once he returns, the United fanbase will be hoping the 21-year-old can provide the magic spark that the front line has been so desperately lacking this season.
