Alexis Sanchez can’t stop scoring. What’s going on?
OK, admittedly it’s just two goals in two games, but by his standard at Manchester United, it’s prolific.
Sanchez is on international duty with Chile at the Copa America.
He scored against Japan in his country’s opener – and bagged an assist – and netted last night against Ecuador.
It would be totally wrong for United to get fooled by this, even if he goes on to score more goals.
In fact the more the better. United desperately need to get rid of Sanchez, 31, this summer to get his highly expensive wages shifted.
Sanchez earns between £350,000 per week and £500,000 per week depending on which tabloid you read. Either way it’s way too much considering his total non-impact at United.
One of the priorities this summer has to be to sell Sanchez to free up wage room, and re-calibrate expectations for United’s other stars.
There has not been much, if any, interest in Sanchez this summer. On the back of his woeful club record in 2019 that’s no surprise.
His Copa America form should change that. Keep on scoring Alexis. There’s no hard feelings, it hasn’t worked out, but it’s time to move on.
More goals will bring more interest and hopefully offers for him to resurrect his career elsewhere. It may even open the door for us to bring in more players.
