Manchester United loanee Alex Telles provided an assist in Julen Lopetegui’s last game in charge of Sevilla before getting sacked.
The former Spain and Real Madrid was reportedly on the shortlist of candidates to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United’s fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson, according to The Guardian.
But the Red Devils opted to hire former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag instead.
Following a dire start to the 2022-23 campaign, Sevilla have parted ways with Lopetegui.

Sevilla have won one game all season and sit 17th in La Liga with five points from seven games.
They also have just one point from three Champions League games and Lopetegui’s sacking was announced after last night’s 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

With his side 3-0 down and his manager facing the sack, Telles did his best to try and launch a memorable comeback.
With Dortmund leading 3-0 at half-time, Telles registered an assist after striker Youssef En-Nesyri headed in the Brazilian’s corner.
Making his third successive start in the Champions League for Sevilla, the 29-year-old was rated the Spanish side’s best player, according to SofaScore.
With a rating of 7.4, Telles had 86 touches and created three chances, as well as winning five duels and registering two interceptions alongside two clearances.

Speaking to the club’s website after the chastening defeat to Dortmund, which had resulted in his former manager’s sacking, Telles spoke about the improvements Sevilla need to make.
The Brazil international said: “We are in a difficult moment, we want to get out of this situation, and we have to work harder, show more for the club and for the fans.
“Football is like that, but we have to be united to take it forward, we try to do our best. I have been here for a short time, but we have to be calmer, know that the moment is not easy and go step by step.”
The former Porto man will be targeting making his second La Liga start when Sevilla host Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
