Alejandro Garnacho could not escape revealing his feelings about his time at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim after Chelsea’s Champions League win on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old Argentina winger made his exit from Old Trafford in the summer after Chelsea finally agreed to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

A United youth academy product, Garnacho signed a contract with Chelsea until 2032 and the Blues completed their transfer in August for a £40m fee.

United were keen to offload Garnacho in the summer after the Argentina international’s relationship with Ruben Amorim fractured at Old Trafford.

Garnacho was critical of United manager Amorim after the Spain-born attacker was dropped from the starting XI for the Red Devils’ Europa League final defeat in May.

Chelsea summer signing Alejandro Garnacho breaks his silence on the tail end of his Man Utd spell under Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim brutally told Alejandro Garnacho to seek out a new club in the summer after the Chelsea summer signing’s remarks after the Europa League final.

Garnacho was left out of Manchester United’s pre-season tour in the summer and the Chelsea star was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford under Amorim.

The Argentina international was keen to remain in England during the summer transfer window and his preferred destination was Premier League side Chelsea.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 1-0 Champions League win, Garnacho insisted that he went through a “bad moment” in the final few months of his United spell in the summer.

“I think it was a difficult moment there, just training alone,” he told TNT Sports.

“But I have nothing bad to say about the club, my old club Manchester United.

“It was just a bad moment in life, but now I’m very happy to be here and to play in this competition and to get the three points today.”

Former Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho has an impact for Chelsea in the Champions League match vs Benfica

Ex-United talent Garnacho played a key role in 10-man Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.

Pedro Neto was able to pick out Garnacho near the back post after pulling off a cross from the right-hand side early in the first half of Chelsea’s match.

Garnacho’s sliding effort put the ball back into a dangerous area and Benfica midfielder Richard Rios ended up putting the ball in the back of his own net.

When asked if playing in the Champions League with Chelsea made his summer struggles even more meaningful, Garnacho said: “Of course, yeah.

“When we were young, we dreamed of playing Champions League nights and we are here now, so I’m very happy.

“It’s three big points. We needed that after losing our first game, so we’re all very happy.”

Joao Pedro was sent off deep into injury time in the second half for Chelsea, but the Blues held on and sealed all three Champions League points on the night.
