Manchester United have a new star. Alejandro Garnacho started his first game for the club in the Europa League, and seized his chance.

While he didn’t get on the scoresheet, he was a menace throughout the game, completing three dribbles, more than any player on the pitch.

Garnacho was skilful, lively, and fearless, bringing his dynamic form from Manchester United’s academy into the first team.

He played for 79 minutes against Sheriff Tiraspol and was applauded off by supporters when he was replaced by Donny van de Beek.

Garnacho sends emotional message

The special night for the Argentine was capped by being able to share the night with his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo spent time at full-time to walk off with his arm around Garnacho, speaking to him to pass on his praise for his display.

Garnacho said he did not know if he was dreaming, to be playing for Manchester United’s first team under the light at Old Trafford, with his idol.

He certainly did not look out of place, and was one of the best players on the pitch in a game which United dominated.

Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo were on the scoresheet in a 3-0 victory.

Ronaldo also sent a message after the game on Instagram, hailing the ‘team effort’.

United are still in second place in the group and must beat Real Sociedad away from home by two clear goals next week, in order to finish in first place.
